project details

New Assiut Power Plant 1000 MW – Fast Track Simple Cycle

Region: Egypt Status: Completed

PLANT DESCRIPTION

The ARRE (8) CTS. CE Stem 9171E dual fired Gas Turbine Generator equipment package, along with all necessary balance of plant systems, is utilized in this power plant. The primary fuel used is heavy fuel oil (Mazout), while the secondary fuel is light fuel oil (Solar). The power generated is stepped up through main transformers and then supplied to the utility 220 kV grid via a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) switchyard. The plant relies on ground water as its water source.

The major components and systems within the plant include the power block (consisting of the gas turbine, generator, and associated equipment), balance of plant systems (such as transformers, switchgears, diesel generator, auxiliary components, boiler, DCS, and other mechanical/electrical systems), a 220 kV GIS, heavy fuel oil treatment plant, fuel tank farm, and a water treatment plant.
