PLANT DESCRIPTION
Comprises two 250 MW combustion turbine generators (CTGs) that are connected to their respective heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). The steam produced by these HRSGs is then used to power a 250 MW reheat, condensing steam turbine generator (STG). The overall net output of the project is estimated to be 750 MW, achieved by burning natural gas in the CTGs without additional HRSG firing. To control emissions, the project utilizes dry low-NOx (DLN) combustors. The CTGs are supplied with filtered combustion air through an inlet air filtration system. The steam generated by the STG is then exhausted through a once-through cooling system with a single-pass, divided water box condenser. The power generated is stepped up to 21 kV (or manufacturer standard voltage) in the CTGs and STG, and then transmitted to the utility grid via the existing 220 kV (GIS) switchyard. The cooling water for the plant is sourced from the Damietta branch of the Nile River. The project contracting plan employed a multi-package system, with eight contracting packages and purchase orders procuring the necessary equipment and services.
