Kureimat III Power Plant 750 MW

project details

Kureimat III Power Plant 750 MW

Region: Egypt Status: Completed

PLANT DESCRIPTION

Comprises two 250 MW combustion turbine generators (CTGs) that supply exhaust gases to their respective heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). The steam generated by the HRSGs powers a 250 MW reheat, condensing steam turbine generator (STG). The overall net output is estimated to be 750 MW, achieved by burning natural gas in the CTGs with no additional HRSG firing. To control Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions, dry low-NOx (DLN) combustors are used. The CTGs are supplied with suitably filtered combustion air through an inlet air filtration system. Steam from the STG is exhausted into a once-through cooling, single-pass, divided water box condenser. The generated power is transmitted at 21 kV through main transformers and then connected to the utility grid via the existing 220 kV (GIS) switchyard. The cooling water for the plant is sourced from the Damietta branch of the Nile River. The project utilized a multi-package system with five contracting packages and purchase orders to procure the necessary equipment and services.
