Job Summary:

Full Time - On Site

The Electrical Secondary Senior Lead will lead and manage Secondary Design activities within the Electrical discipline, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality engineering outputs in accordance with project requirements and industry standards

The role combines technical leadership, project coordination, and hands-on engineering, with responsibility for guiding the team, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring consistent application of company procedures and best practices.

Responsibilites:

  • Lead and mentor a Secondary design electrical engineering team, providing technical guidance and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance of all electrical deliverables with project specifications, local and international codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC, Egyptian Codes), safety standards, as well as industry best practices.
  • Adhere to and enforce PGESCO's design and quality procedures, ensuring a consistent and high-quality output.
  • Prepare and review key secondary design deliverables, including Single Line Diagrams, Protection & Control Logic diagrams, Interlocking diagrams, and Meter & Relay diagrams.
  • Lead and review electrical calculations including battery and DC system sizing, MV&LV cables, switchgear, and emergency diesel generator sizing.
  • Review CT/VT sizing calculations and protection relay settings for MV, LV, and HV systems.
  • Prepare and review control and protection cable schedules, termination schedules, and related BOQs.
  • Prepare and review equipment specifications ensuring compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and review vendor drawings and calculations related to protection, and control systems.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (Primary, Civil, Mechanical, I&C) to ensure proper integration of secondary systems
  • Conduct technical reviews, perform value engineering, and resolve complex engineering issues to provide optimized design solutions.
  • Monitor project progress and support planning to meet project schedules and milestones

  • Provide electrical expertise and support across all project types, ensuring efficient and reliable design solutions.
  • Perform critical calculations and prepare key deliverables, when required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering – Electrical Power Major. (A higher degree (Master’s, PhD) is aplus).
  • (11-15) years of working experience in Secondary Design in Power Generation and/or HV Substation Projects.
  • Strong knowledge of protection and control systems, relay coordination, and secondary design engineering.
  • Good understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations (IEC, IEEE, NEC,etc.).
  • Proficiency in relevant electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAB, relay setting tools,MS Office 
  • Experience in reviewing and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and work within a team environment.
  • Experience with international projects and multi-cultural environments is a plus.
